Calliou Group is an Indigenous-owned Consulting Firm that provides services and supports to Indigenous peoples and their governments on matters pertaining to their rights.

Pronounced /KAL-ee-oh/

Calliou is the last name descended from Louis Callihoo (Kwarakwante) who signed Treaty 6 in 1878 as part of Michel First Nation. Other spellings include Callihoo, Calahoo, Callioux. Calliou peoples and their treaty story are central to the history of what is now known as Alberta.

MESSAGE FROM OUR FOUNDER

“I started Calliou Group in 2008 with the hope that I could take everything I knew about the rights held by Indigenous peoples and pass it on to my clients and to the people I work with. The process of learning, adjusting, and learning again has not stopped in almost 30 years. I wish I could say conditions have changed for Indigenous peoples in Canada, but I can’t. And that is what kept me going. The work is not done, the fight is not over.”
